CLASS II 10 miles
The wonderful Brewster County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch of Rio Grande is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. Whether you're whitewater rafting
or kayaking this is an area with not too many other places for that. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The Chisos Mountains scenery is wonderful.
The average Texas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy.
