Texas whitewater, Rio Grande

Brewster county, Solis to Rio Grande Village section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS I-II     20 miles
This section of Rio Grande in Texas is 20 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Brewster County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. You might
have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beautiful Chisos Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This
is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Texas tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling
rivers.
