The Solis to Rio Grande Village stretch of Rio Grande is 20 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Texas and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. When you're paddling down a Chisos Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Whether you're whitewater
rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other spots for that. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. If you
have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Solis to Rio Grande Village section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

of August you get the most rain around here; the driest month of the year is March. High temperatures at Rio Grande during the summer months are in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 60's while the cold winter nights at Rio Grande are in the 30's.
