The Solis to Rio Grande Village section of Rio Grande in Texas is 20 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Rio Grande Village section is one of them. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking
| outside Texas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The natural beauty of Brewster County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. Whitewater paddling here in the Chisos Mountains is a great experience.

Not much rainfall falls here at Rio Grande; through the month of August you get the most rain around here; the driest of the months is March.
