CLASS I-II     20 miles
  This section of Rio Grande in Texas is 20 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Brewster County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. You might
    have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beautiful Chisos Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This
is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Texas tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling  

Briefly about the general area:
If the weather is good here at Rio Grande, you can go for a hike along the Rio Grande Village Nature Trail. The views at Big Bend National Park will blow your mind; the Ore Terminal Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close by. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. Rio Grande is pretty dehydrated commonly. The month with most of the rain is August while March is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Through the warmest time of the year at Rio Grande highs are generally in the 90's. Summer night lows dip down to the 60's. During the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 60's; overnight lows at Rio Grande all through the winter frequently fall into the 30's.
