CLASS II 7.5 miles
This stretch and all others of rocky creek are private. If I see you on the creek you will at the very least go to jail for trespassing. Says Land Owner
Hi Land Owner, On the offhand chance you may be back to read this, Kayakers are some of the most respectful people in the world. Why would you want to send someone to jail for simply passing thru a navigable stream that runs thru your land? I don't get it. You know, if it's that much of an issue, you could charge people entry or just insist they check in with you first. Most people aren't
looking for trouble. Says Paddler
The nature scenery of Burnet County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. This section of Rocky Creek in Texas is 7.5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The starting location is
a reasonable drive from Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The US 183 to Oakalla section is the only paddling section along Rocky Creek. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty
of places for that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
