  The beautiful scenery of Texas and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. This stretch of Sabinal in Texas is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting your paddling muscles activated
    and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. If you're coming from Uvalde it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so
you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. There's camping available near Sabinal. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Utopia to FM 187 section is one of them.

The month of October is the wettest with most of the rain while December is frequently the driest month. High temperatures at Sabinal during the warm months are in the 90's while night lows are commonly in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Sabinal temperatures dip to the 20's.
