This stretch of San Gabriel River is 10 miles long and is a class II+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Williamson County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The starting location is a short drive from Austin-Round Rock, as you can see on the road map further down. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Georgetown
City Pk to Jonah stretch is just one of them. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget
that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers.
Briefly about the general area: The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Manske Branch Spring. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at San Gabriel River; all through the month of May you get the most rain around here; December meanwhile is the driest
month. At San Gabriel River during the summer highs are in the 90's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 70's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's with temperatures at San Gabriel River dipping down into the 30's all through winter nights.
