The wonderful Williamson County scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is
an area with plenty of places for that. The Liberty Hill to Georgetown stretch of San Gabriel River - South Fork is 18 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter,
so why not pack your camp stove too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you're coming from Austin-Round Rock it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came.
