long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The scenic beauty of Hays/ Caldwell/ Guadalupe County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't
forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. most rain; January is the month with the least moisture. For the period of the days of summer here at San Marcos River, high temperatures commonly reach the 90's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 70's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to San Marcos River.
