Texas whitewater - Sandy Creek, Llano County Llano county, Llano CR 310 to SH 71 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II+     4 miles   I have driven this area, and would be concerned about trespassing issues with leaving a vehicle at the put-in.  Any thoughts on that?  Thanks, Says Kevin This section of Sandy Creek is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II+ section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Texas is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve     in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Sandy Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Llano CR 310 to SH 71 section is the only one. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The nature scenery of Texas and the water flowing gracefully down Sandy Creek have people coming here. Briefly about the general area: If you feel like a little side spree, try Hogpen Hollow. All through the months of summer, highs typically are in the 90's at Sandy Creek while nighttime lows are generally in the 70's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's while Sandy Creek nighttime low temperatures   during the wintertime are in the 30's. Sandy Creek is a good place of common precipitation; May is the wettest month with most rain, and January is when it's the driest.
