If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Texas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The wonderful Texas scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. You might have to settle for a hotel     a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Crosbyton to White River Res section is the only paddling section along White River. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: A short trip to Collett Springs is always worthwhile. At White River you don’t see much precipitation; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily June, that's the one that rains the most, and January on the other hand is the driest.
