  The scenic beauty of Crosby County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Texas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Lubbock, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch of White River
    in Texas is 18 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river
for a while have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you  
donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
Collett Springs is an inspiring spot to have a look at while here; if you're going to from Crosbyton, you won't be the only one. Not much rain falls here at White River. Most of the rain falls through June while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. High temperatures at White River during the summer are in the 90's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's while the cold winter nights at White River are in the 20's.
