The average Utah whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The nature scenery of Box Elder County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Bear River is 15 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-IV section. many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. For all you camping people there
| are campgrounds nearby. There are no other stretches to paddle along Bear River than the Sulphur Campground to Chalk Creek WY stretch.
Briefly about the general area: Bear River gets a lot of water; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is May. Through the summer at Bear River temperatures are frequently in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 70's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 80's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Bear River sink into the 70's.
