The put-in is not too far from Salt Lake City, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There's camping available near Big Cottonwood Creek. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Old Mill to 3900 South section is the only paddling section along Big Cottonwood Creek. The beauty of the Wasatch Range is a great plus for this river. Since you're     on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. The Old Mill to 3900 South section of Big Cottonwood Creek in Morgan/ Salt Lake County is 8.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-IV section. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The average Utah whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: A good place close to Big Cottonwood Creek is Tolcats Canyon, and Casto Spring is an inspiring place to stop at during your stay.
