The Old Mill to 3900 South stretch of Big Cottonwood Creek in Utah is 8.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-IV section of whitewater. The wonderful Utah scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The wild scenery of the Wasatch
Range is great. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either
way around here you won't find a large number of other spots. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Salt Lake City, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Old Mill to 3900 South section is the only paddling section along Big Cottonwood Creek. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors
are great attractions for lots of people.
