The Old Mill to 3900 South section of Big Cottonwood Creek in Morgan/ Salt Lake County is 8.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I-IV section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Utah are easier than the national norm, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The scenic beauty of Utah and the playfulness of the water are reasons
enough to come here and paddle. The put-in is not too far from Salt Lake City, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking,
either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. This is the only paddling section along Big Cottonwood Creek. When you're paddling down a Wasatch Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.
