The wonderful Grand County scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not
pack your camping stuff too. There's camping available near Colorado River. The Loma to Westwater section of Colorado River in Utah is 27 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Grand Junction,
as you can see on the road map further down. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Loma to Westwater stretch is one of them.
Briefly about the general area: If you're here at Colorado River, checking out Pipe Organ is a must, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Colorado River; John Ottos Trail is a delightful local trail. If you want to stop by some attention-grabbing stuff, stop by Independence Monument; why not take a refreshing hike along the Monument Canyon Trail. High temperatures at Colorado River
during the summer are in the 90's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's while Colorado River nighttime low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's. Colorado River
gets very little precipitation; October is when you get the most rain here, and February on the other hand is the driest. This is such a great river. The views at Colorado National Monument will blow your mind; you might also want to pay a visit to Monument Canyon if you're here at Colorado River.
