Grand
county,
Loma to Westwater section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II 27 miles
The natural beauty of Utah and the water flowing gracefully down Colorado River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The average Utah whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're coming from Grand
Junction it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The campgrounds here at Colorado River are pretty good. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you
glad you came. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Loma to Westwater section is one of them. This stretch of Colorado River in Utah is 27 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater.
