The wonderful Utah scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Colorado River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't
    matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors
will have you coming back for more. The starting point is not too far from Grand Junction, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Westwater to Rose Ranch stretch of Colorado River in Grand County is 17 miles long and is a class I-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The Westwater to Rose Ranch section is one of many paddling sections in this river system.

You might want to pay a visit to Trail Canyon since you're here at Colorado River. Skull Rapids is an inspiring site to stop by during your stay. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Sock-It-To-Me Rapids. At Colorado River all through the summer months highs are in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Colorado River are in the 10's. Colorado River is a location that is reasonably dried out ordinarily. October is the wettest month with most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.
