Utah whitewater - Colorado River, Grand County Grand county, Moab to Powell Reservoir section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-IV     112 miles   This section of Colorado River in Grand County is 112 miles long and it is classified as a class I-IV section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Utah scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Utah are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. There's camping available near Colorado River. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect     for a real wilderness adventure. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The Moab to Powell Reservoir stretch is the only paddling stretch along Colorado River. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Near Colorado River you hit upon South Fork Horse Canyon which is a nice place to stop by, and you need to pop by Chocolate Drops since you're here. Colorado River is a location that is relatively dry commonly; throughout the month of September you get the most rain around here, and February is the month with the least moisture. This is such a fun river. All through the summer at Colorado River temperatures are regularly in the   90's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Colorado River dip into the 10's. Taking a little spree to nearby Brimhall Point is a wonderful idea, and do take a hike on the White Rim Trail.
