Utah whitewater - Cottonwood Creek, Emery County Emery county, Joe's Valley Reservoir to Route 29 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV     6 miles   This section of Cottonwood Creek is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Utah are often more forgiving than in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This is the only paddling stretch along Cottonwood Creek. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you     might end up sleeping in your car. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the CCC Trail is nice fun, and Clay Banks is an interesting thing to catch a sight of while you're here. Summertime highs at Cottonwood Creek ordinarily tend to be in the 80's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. All through the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 30's; overnight lows in the 0's for Cottonwood Creek. Clay Banks Swale is a splendid place to stop by close by.
