The natural beauty of Duchesne/ Wasatch County and the water flowing gracefully down Currant Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater paddling here in the Uinta Mountains is a great experience. This section of Currant Creek in Duchesne/ Wasatch County
is 25 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Currant Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Dry Hollow to Strawberry River section is the only one. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you
won't find many other paddling rivers. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camping stuff. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: At Currant Creek through the summer highs are in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally
in the 30's while Currant Creek overnight low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's. Currant Creek is pretty waterless typically; the month with most of the snow is February while June is commonly the driest month.
