  The nature scenery of Wayne County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Torrey to Waterfall section of Fremont River is 16 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V+ section. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. There are no other sections to paddle along Fremont River than the Torrey to Waterfall section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout
    and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag.

about the general area:
A splendid site in the vicinity of Fremont River is Calf Canyon; don't miss out on a visit to Capitol Reef National Park if you're here. Fremont River is usually a relatively dehydrated spot; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while February is regularly the driest month.
Through the summer at Fremont River temperatures are regularly in the 80's with night lows in the 40's. Highs through the winter are regularly in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Fremont River sink into the 0's.
