The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The wonderful Utah scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Canyon of Lodore Colorado to US 40 stretch is just one of many. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t
have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The campgrounds here at Green River are pretty good. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't
matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. Whitewater paddling here in the Uinta Mountains is a great experience. This section of Green River in Utah is 44 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.
Briefly about the general area: Island Park Fault is a nice place to have a look at in the vicinity of Green River, and Tree Island is a nice local forest. Summertime brings
highs in the 90's to Green River, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's; nighttime lows in the 10's for Green River. Just can't get enough of the Uinta Mountains. The Jones Hole Trail is a brilliant hiking trail near Green
River, and on a delightful day you can take a hike along the Daniels Trail. It is very dehydrated here at Green River ordinarily; during the month of May you get the most rain around here; the driest month of the year is January. This is a great river.
