The average Utah whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Uintah County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Canyon of Lodore Colorado to US 40 section is just one of many. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Now
this is a pretty long section, so better bring your camping gear along. This stretch of Green River is 44 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.
You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other spots for that. The wild scenery of the Uinta Mountains is great. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
Briefly about the general area: If the weather is delightful here at Green River, you can go for a hike along the Jones Hole Trail, and Island Park Fault is a brilliant place to spend some time. This river is so great. Green River gets very little rain; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain,
and the driest of the months is January. So much entertaining stuff to do here in the Uinta Mountains, too brilliant to be true. Not far from Green River you can enjoy the trees of Tree Island, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Daniels Trail. For the duration of
the months of summer highs here at Green River reach the 90's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Green River.
