Utah whitewater - Jordan River, Utah/ Salt Lake County Utah/ Salt Lake county, Utah Lake to Rose Park section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     51 miles   If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The nature scenery of Utah and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Jordan River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Utah Lake to Rose Park section is the only one. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The put-in location is a reasonable     drive from Salt Lake City, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. This section of Jordan River is 51 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Jordan River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: Jordan River gets very little rain; most of the rain falls through April, and January is when it's the driest. Summertime highs at Jordan River commonly tend to be in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 60's.
