Utah whitewater - Price River, Book Cliffs, Emery County Emery county, Woodside to confluence with Green River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-V     16 miles   Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The nature scenery of Utah and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Price River is 16 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots.     Whitewater paddling here in the Book Cliffs is a great experience. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The Woodside to confluence with Green River section is the only paddling section along Price River. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: It is very dried out here at Price River ordinarily; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain; the driest of the months is January. Summertime highs at Price River typically tend to be in the 80's,   and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the winter the highs are mostly in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Price River. If you're here, you might as well check out Long Canyon.
