The Deer Creek Reservoir to Utah Lake stretch of Provo River in Wasatch/ Utah County is 17.5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-IV section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Wasatch/ Utah County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in is not too far from Provo-Orem, as you can see on the road map further down. The beauty of the Wasatch Range is a great plus for this river. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking
around here you won't find a large number of other spots. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just being out
on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Provo River through the days of summer are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's while Provo River overnight
low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's. Don't leave Provo River without first going for a hike along the Mount Timpanogos Trail, and Pole Canyon is a splendid site to spend some time. Around Provo River you don’t get a lot of precipitation; during the month
of April you get the most rain around here while July is typically the driest month. Just can't get enough of the Wasatch Range. Go for a hike on the Indian Trail.
