Utah whitewater, San Rafael River

Emery county, Bridge at San Rafael Campground to I-70 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-V     42 miles
This stretch of San Rafael River in Utah is 42 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V section. The natural beauty of Utah and the water flowing gracefully down San Rafael River have people coming here. The starting location is a short drive from Price, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more
forgiving, so keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Bridge at San Rafael Campground to I-70 section is one of them. If you're
a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so better bring your camping gear along. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good spots for that around here. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come.
