The Soldier Creek to Starvation Res stretch of Strawberry River in Duchesne County is 36 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-V section. The put-in location is a short drive from Price, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Utah     are often more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. Strawberry River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Soldier Creek to Starvation Res stretch is the only one. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Strawberry River are pretty good. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so it looks like you will be camping out. Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Strawberry River. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's with temperatures   at Strawberry River dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Strawberry River gets very little rainfall; September is when you get the most rain here while March is generally the driest month. Near Strawberry River you stumble on Simmons Canyon which is a nice site to stop by.
