  The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Utah are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are less demanding. This stretch of Yellowstone River in Utah is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a short
    paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The beautiful scenery of Duchesne County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. There's camping available near Yellowstone River. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater
rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. The beautiful Uinta Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There are no other stretches to paddle along Yellowstone River than the Swift Creek to Reservoir stretch.

Briefly about the general area:
Grants Spring is a delightful site to explore while you're at Yellowstone River, and Cow Canyon is also a good place to look at. All the outdoors cool things in the Uinta Mountains will keep you coming back many times. A short trip to Aspen Spring is always worthwhile.
 
Yellowstone River is typically a reasonably waterless place; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain, and March is when it's the driest. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Yellowstone River, and the night is somewhat colder of course, ordinarily in the 40's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Yellowstone River.
