The wonderful Vermont scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. The average Vermont whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This stretch of Ball Mountain Brook is 3.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in
a few times. The beauty of the Green Mountains is a great plus for this river. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This is the only paddling section along Ball Mountain Brook. No shortage of
good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The put-in is not too far from Bennington, as you can see on the road map further down.
Briefly about the general area: During the warm days of summer highs here at Ball Mountain Brook get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 30's, and through the dark hours in
the wintertime at Ball Mountain Brook temperatures dip to the 10's. Yeah, come up here to the Green Mountains for a tremendous time. There is a perfect hiking trail in close proximity to Ball Mountain Brook called the Railroad Bed Trail. The Overlook Trail is a perfect hiking
trail right next door to Ball Mountain Brook, and you can never get enough of the tremendous skiing at Magic Mountain. Ball Mountain Brook sees pretty high levels of precipitation; through August this area sees the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
