If you're coming from Bennington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nature scenery of Vermont and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Metcalf Road to Jamaica State Park stretch of Ball Mountain Brook in Windham County is 3.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A good
workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The Metcalf Road to Jamaica State Park section
is the only paddling section along Ball Mountain Brook. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful Green Mountains scenery is an added bonus.

Mountain Brook you can take a hike along the Overlook Trail, and everybody close by loves skiing at Magic Mountain. All the water falling down from the sky makes Ball Mountain Brook a wet spot; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February.
Summer brings highs in the 80's to Ball Mountain Brook. Summer night lows dip down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Ball Mountain Brook. So much amusing stuff in the Green Mountains, just phenomenal. On a great day at Ball Mountain Brook you can take a hike along the Railroad Bed Trail.
