If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Vermont you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. Barton River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Route 16 north of Glover to Lake Memphremagog section is the only one. The campgrounds here at Barton River are pretty good. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night,
but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wild scenery of the Green Mountains is great. The natural beauty of Vermont and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Route 16 north
