Tabor to Appalachian Trail stretch of Big Branch in Rutland County is 2.6 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater paddling here in the Green Mountains is a great experience. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The natural beauty of Rutland County and the sparkling of the sunlight
on the water have people coming here. This is the only paddling stretch along Big Branch. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if
you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
