The starting location is a reasonable drive from Lebanon, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Whitesville to Perkinsville section of Black River is 7.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming
here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The natural beauty of
Windsor County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. The Whitesville to Perkinsville stretch is the only paddling stretch along Black River. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. When you're paddling down a Green Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.

that gets a large amount of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February. Summer at Black River comes with high temperatures in the 80's with night lows in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Black River.
