This section of Clarendon River in Rutland County is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Rutland County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. If you're coming from Rutland it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The campgrounds here at Clarendon River are pretty good. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This is a
somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance
because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful Green Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Clarendon River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Clarendon Springs to West Rutland stretch is the only one. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Vermont are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less demanding.
