There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The beauty of the Green Mountains is a great plus for this river. This stretch is very short so you'd better     be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is the only paddling section along Connecticut River. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Vermont tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Briefly about the general area: An average amount of rainfall falls at Connecticut River; the month with most of the rain is August; the driest month of the year is February. Sumner Falls is always fun to check out, and a short journey to Sumner Falls is always worthwhile. All through the summertime months at Connecticut River   temperatures are commonly in the 70's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 20's, and overnight lows throughout the wintertime for Connecticut River tend to be in the 0's.
