The starting point is not too far from Springfield, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Green River to West Leyden stretch of Green River in Vermont is 6.8 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The nature scenery of Windham / Franklin County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything.
A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this
river system, there are a few others too. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. There's camping available near Green River. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots.
