The beautiful scenery of Chittenden County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're coming from Burlington-South Burlington it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The Hanksville to Cochran Road section of Huntington River is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back
for more. The beautiful Green Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Huntington River doesn't have a lot of paddling
sections, the Hanksville to Cochran Road section is the only one. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Vermont you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip.

Ski Center is a very popular ski area in the vicinity. Huntington River gets a normal amount of annual rain; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. Through the warm months at Huntington River temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's,
and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's while Huntington River night low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. This location, the Green Mountains, has so much outdoors entertaining stuff.
