The beautiful scenery of Vermont and the water flowing gracefully down Joe's Brook River attract people from near and far. The West Danville to covered bridge stretch of Joe's Brook River is 10 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. Some people prefer
whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite
a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The West Danville to covered bridge stretch is the only paddling stretch along Joe's Brook River. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater paddling here in the Green Mountains is a great experience.
Briefly about the general area: Through the summer here at Joe's Brook River, high temperatures mostly get into the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the
50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 20's with temperatures at Joe's Brook River dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Danville Fire District Forest is a great local forest. From a rain point of view Joe's Brook River is a pretty typical place; August is when you get the most rain here while February is generally the driest month.
