The scenic beauty of Vermont and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Barre, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch of Lamoille
River - Wild Branch is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The beauty of the Green Mountains is a great plus for this river. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Vermont
is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Craftsbury to Wolcott stretch is one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers.
