The wonderful Orleans / Lamoille County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in is not too far from Barre, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Craftsbury to Wolcott section is one of them. The campgrounds here at Lamoille River - Wild Branch are pretty good. This stretch of Lamoille
River - Wild Branch in Orleans / Lamoille County is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The beautiful Green Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Whitewater rafting
and kayaking spots in Vermont are easier than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
