The starting location is a short drive from Barre, as you can see on the road map further down. The Waterbury Reservoir to Winooski River section of Little River in Vermont is 2.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I(III) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Vermont is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beauty of the Green Mountains
is a great plus for this river. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The nature scenery of Washington County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system,
the Waterbury Reservoir to Winooski River section is one of them. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. There's camping available near Little River.
Briefly about the general area: You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the Green Mountains has to offer. Summertime highs at Little River usually tend to be in the 60's. Through the dark hours
of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Little River. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Stevenson Brook Trail; do take a hike on the Hedgehop Hill Loop Trail. Little River is a good site of typical rain; most of the rain falls during August, and the driest month is February.
