The wonderful Vermont scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Little River - West Branch will make you feel great. The Fosters to Recreation Path parking lot section of Little River - West Branch in Lamoille County is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class II(IV) section by American Whitewater. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The wild scenery of the Green Mountains is great. There are campgrounds
quite near the river where you can camp. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The starting point is not too far from Barre, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you'll
be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Fosters to Recreation Path parking lot stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding.
Briefly about the general area: You can never get enough of the wonderful skiing at
Stowe, and you can have a fine hiking adventure along the Hedgehop Hill Loop Trail. This river has it all. Having a fine time in the Green Mountains is painless. Some magnificent nature is available in Stowe Municipal Forest, and hiking along the Haselton Trail is nice fun.
Through the warm days of summer highs here at Little River - West Branch get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are commonly in the 20's; overnight lows at Little River - West Branch through the winter frequently descend
