This section of Middlebury River in Addison County is 2.6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. The scenic beauty of Vermont and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average Vermont whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Whitewater paddling here in the Green Mountains is a great experience. A good
workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to
the start over and over. The put-in location is a short drive from Rutland, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The campgrounds here at Middlebury River are pretty good. This is the only paddling section along Middlebury River. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
