Addison
county,
Ripton to East Middlebury section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V 2.6 miles
The put-in location is a short drive from Rutland, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Middlebury River is 2.6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The average Vermont whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so don't forget
that many runs in this state are very easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature
are great reasons to come. The natural beauty of Vermont and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There's camping available near Middlebury River. There are no other sections to paddle along Middlebury River than the Ripton to East Middlebury section. The beautiful Green Mountains scenery is an added bonus.
