If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Berlin, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The scenic beauty of Caledonia / Essex County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if
you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. A bit of
exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. The river winds through the Green Mountains and you get great scenery. Moose River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Victory Bog to Passumpsic River stretch is the only one. The Victory Bog to Passumpsic River stretch of Moose River is 18 miles long and is a class I-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.

the Green Mountains will keep you coming back over and over. Going for a hike on the Bear Den Trail is always a magnificent adventure; Burke Mountain has pleasant slopes and a friendly staff. From a precipitation point of view Moose River is a rather typical location; the month
of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is when it's the driest. Summertime highs at Moose River usually tend to be in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 20's, and overnight lows at Moose River through the winter mostly drop into the 0's.
