This stretch of New Haven River in Vermont is 1.3 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Rutland it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are a
few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The beautiful Green Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The campgrounds here at New Haven River are pretty good. The wonderful Addison County scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far.
You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. This stretch is very short so better bring some good walking shoes.
Briefly about the general area: The Beaver Meadow Trail offers hiking at its best; there's a glorious forest called Lincoln Municipal Forest. You completely have to have a thing about the Green Mountains.
