The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Vermont are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The wonderful Vermont scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Berlin, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This section of Nulhegan River in Vermont is 13 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. Nulhegan River doesn't
have a lot of paddling sections, the East Brighton Bridge to Connecticut River section is the only one. The beauty of the Green Mountains is a great plus for this river. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers.
Briefly about the general area: From a rain point of view Nulhegan River is a pretty normal location;
the month with most of the rain is August while February is usually the driest month. There's good hiking along the Loggers Loop Trail. Through the summertime, highs regularly are in the 70's at Nulhegan River; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime
highs through the wintertime are in the 20's, and overnight lows at Nulhegan River all through the wintertime regularly dip into the-10's.
