The West Fairlee to Thetford Covered Bridge section of Ompompanoosuc River in Vermont is 8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The wild scenery of the Green Mountains is great. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking     outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip.
