The natural beauty of Vermont and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Vermont is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. The West Fairlee to Thetford Covered Bridge stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. This section of Ompompanoosuc River in Orange County is 8 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wild scenery of the Green Mountains is great. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
