  This section of Poultney River in Rutland County is 4.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Rutland, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving,
    so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The natural beauty of Vermont and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll
have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers.
