  The average Vermont whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. This stretch of Poultney River in Vermont is 4.5 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're coming from Rutland it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's
    a road map further down the page. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There's camping available near Poultney River. The wonderful Rutland County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here
and paddle. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip.
