The put-in location is a short drive from Barre, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Washington County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch of Ridley Brook in Washington County is 2 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whitewater paddling here in the Green Mountains is a great experience. Since you're on this site you
are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Ridley Brook doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Camel's Hump Road in North Duxbury to Winooski River stretch is the only one. If you've been whitewater rafting
and kayaking outside Vermont you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.

usually in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Ridley Brook. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Stevenson Brook Trail, and skiing at Bolton Valley is one of those things you just should do.
