This stretch of Roaring Branch is 3.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Bennington, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There are no other stretches to paddle along Roaring Branch than the Kelly Stand Road to East Kansas stretch. When you're paddling down a Green Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time
in nature will have you coming back for more. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Windham County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
Briefly about the general area: Through the summertime months highs here at Roaring Branch reach the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter
brings highs down to the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Roaring Branch fall into the 0's. If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Green Mountains. Bulls Head is an exciting place to explore while at Roaring Branch;
hiking along the Lye Brook Trail is good fun. Take a hike on the West Ridge Trail; you're sure to run into some friendly people from Bennington here. This is such a wonderful river. Whetstone Bluff is an out of the ordinary thing to catch a glimpse of while you're here at Roaring
Branch, and there's a forest here called Arlington Municipal Forest. Roaring Branch is a wet location that gets a large amount of rain; August is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is February.
