This stretch of Roaring Branch in Vermont is 3.5 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful Vermont scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The Kelly Stand Road to East Kansas stretch
is the only paddling stretch along Roaring Branch. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Bennington, as you can see on the road map further down. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all
you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes. When you're paddling down a Green Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: At this river you will always have a good time. Have a delightful hiking adventure along the West Ridge Trail; what would a place like Roaring Branch be without out of the
ordinary nearby features like Bulls Head. The high level of rain makes Roaring Branch a relatively wet spot; through the month of August you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is February. High temperatures at Roaring Branch through the summer are in
the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Roaring Branch. That right there is heaps of enjoyable stuff already but it
goes on, the Green Mountains has it all. There's a great forest in close proximity to Roaring Branch called Arlington Municipal Forest, and since you're here you will meet lots of people from close by Bennington. Don't leave Roaring Branch without first checking out Whetstone Bluff, and going for a hike along the Lye Brook Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity.
