The beautiful scenery of Orange County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Vermont you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The put-in is not too far from Lebanon, as you can see on the road map further down. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that
around here. This stretch of Waits River is 10.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Waits River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Waits River Village to Route 25B stretch is the only one. For all you camping people there
are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The beautiful Green Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too.

the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is regularly the driest month. For the period of the days of summer highs here at Waits River get into the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs
in the 20's, and night lows at Waits River during the wintertime typically descend into the 0's. All year is a great time in the Green Mountains if you go for the outdoors. If you're addicted to cool geologic features, try Iras Pinnacle; there is a great hiking trail close by called the Wrights Mountain Trail.
