The wonderful Bennington County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Appalachian Trail Crossing to Park Street in Bennington section of Walloomsac River in Bennington County is 4 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Bennington, as you can see on the road map further down. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. If you'll be staying in
a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Appalachian Trail Crossing to Park Street in Bennington section is the only paddling section along Walloomsac River. This stretch is mid length, good for
a one day paddling trip. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Vermont are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners.

lows in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Walloomsac River fall into the 0's. Walloomsac River gets a normal amount of yearly rain; August is the month that gets the most rain while
February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. The West Ridge Trail is a pleasant hiking trail close to Walloomsac River, and nearby you'll stumble on a wooded vicinity called Bennington Municipal Forest. If the weather is tremendous here at Walloomsac River, you can go for a hike along the Bald Mountain Trail.
