Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The nature scenery of Vermont and the water flowing gracefully down White River make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in is not too far from Barre, as you can see on the road map further down. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations
in advance you're all set. This stretch of White River in Windsor County is 20 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot
of people coming here. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Rochester to Bethel section is one of them. When you're paddling down a Green Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
