The starting location is a short drive from Keene, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Windham County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The campgrounds here at Williams River are pretty good. Williams River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Northchester to Brockway Mills section is the only one. This stretch is mid length, good for a
one day paddling trip. The Northchester to Brockway Mills section of Williams River in Vermont is 7.5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night,
but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that.
