If you're coming from Keene it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The scenic beauty of Vermont and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Northchester to Brockway Mills section of Williams River in Windham County is 7.5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. This is the only paddling stretch along Williams River. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots.
Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the summertime months at Williams River highs are usually in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Williams
River. Not far from Williams River you can enjoy the trees of Rockingham Town Forest, and Kingdom Valley is also a magnificent place to discover. Williams River is a wet site that gets a good deal of rainfall; throughout August this area sees the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest.
