The Chesdin Dam To Petersburg stretch of Appomattox River is 6.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. There's camping available near Appomattox River. This is the only paddling section along Appomattox River.     Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other spots.
