The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The Chesdin Dam To Petersburg stretch of Appomattox River in Chesterfield/Dinwiddie County is     6.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. This is the only paddling stretch along Appomattox River. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good rivers for that around here.
