This stretch of Aquia Creek in Virginia is 10.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Aquia Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling     sections, the Rt. 610 to US 1 section is the only one. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Briefly about the general area: Aquia Creek is a reasonably wet place typically with a great deal of rain; most of the rain falls all through August while January is commonly the driest month. At Aquia Creek through the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's. Summer night lows dip down to the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's, and overnight lows at Aquia Creek during the wintertime regularly sink into the 20's.
